Barpeta

Barpeta is a district in the Assam State of India. Total area of Barpeta is 2,282 km² including 2,245.62 km² rural area and 36.38 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Barpeta has a population of 16,93,622 peoples, out of which urban population is 1,47,353 while rural population is 15,46,269. Barpeta has a sex ratio of approximately 953 females for every 1,000 males. The district has a population density of 742.2 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 3,37,929 houses in the district, including 31,495 urban houses and 3,06,434 rural houses. When it comes to villages, there are about 825 villages in barpeta district.
