Muzaffarpur is a district in the Bihar State of India. Total area of Muzaffarpur is 3,172 km² including 3,099.82 km² rural area and 72.18 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Muzaffarpur has a population of 48,01,062 peoples, out of which urban population is 4,73,437 while rural population is 43,27,625. Muzaffarpur has a sex ratio of approximately 899 females for every 1,000 males. The district has a population density of 1514 inhabitants per square kilometre.
