Kachchh

Kachchh is a district in the Gujarat State of India. Total area of Kachchh is 45,674 km² including 45,381.94 km² rural area and 292.06 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Kachchh has a population of 20,92,371 peoples, out of which urban population is 7,28,535 while rural population is 13,63,836. Kachchh has a sex ratio of approximately 907 females for every 1,000 males. The district has a population density of 45.81 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 4,45,672 houses in the district, including 1,59,671 urban houses and 2,86,001 rural houses. When it comes to villages, there are about 877 villages in kachchh district.

The Kachchh district is further divided in to Talukas / Blocks / PS / Community Development Blocks (C.D.Blocks) for administrative purposes. In India, the Block or C.D.Block is often the next level of administrative division after the tehsil. It is important to note that, In some states of India C.D.Blocks are equal to tehsils.

For those who don't know, the C.D.Block is a rural area earmarked for administration and development in India. The area is administered by a BDO (Block Development Officer). A C.D.Block covers several gram panchayats, local administrative unit at the village level.

Bhuj is the largest taluka in kachchh district by both area and population. Gandhidham is the smallest taluka in kachchh district by area while Lakhpat is the smallest taluka by population.
