Dhanbad is a district in the Jharkhand State of India. Total area of Dhanbad is 2,040 km² including 1,684.77 km² rural area and 355.23 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Dhanbad has a population of 26,84,487 peoples, out of which urban population is 15,60,394 while rural population is 11,24,093. The district has a population density of 1316 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 5,07,064 houses in the district, including 2,96,040 urban houses and 2,11,024 rural houses.
