Lakshadweep

Lakshadweep is a district in the Lakshadweep Union Territory of India. Total area of Lakshadweep is 30 km² including 9.17 km² rural area and 20.83 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Lakshadweep has a population of 64,473 peoples, out of which urban population is 50,332 while rural population is 14,141. Lakshadweep has a sex ratio of approximately 946 females for every 1,000 males. The district has a population density of 2149 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 11,574 houses in the district, including 8,864 urban houses and 2,710 rural houses. When it comes to villages, there are about 6 villages in lakshadweep district.

The Lakshadweep district is further divided in to Subdivisions / Blocks / PS / Community Development Blocks (C.D.Blocks) for administrative purposes. In India, the Block or C.D.Block is often the next level of administrative division after the tehsil. It is important to note that, In some states of India C.D.Blocks are equal to tehsils.
