Ganjam

Ganjam is a district in the Odisha State of India. The total area of Ganjam district is 8,206 km², which includes 7,846.32 km² of rural area and 359.68 km² of urban area. There are about 2,783 villages in Ganjam district.

For administrative convenience, Ganjam district is divided into Tehsils, Blocks, PS, and Community Development Blocks (C.D. Blocks). In many states, Blocks or C.D. Blocks are treated the same as tehsils, though they may have slightly different roles depending on the region.

A Community Development Block is a rural area set aside for administration and development. Each block is managed by a Block Development Officer (BDO) and includes several gram panchayats, which are the local governing bodies at the village level.
