Puri

Puri is a district in the Odisha State of India. Total area of Puri is 3,479 km² including 3,391.09 km² rural area and 87.91 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Puri has a population of 16,98,730 peoples, out of which urban population is 2,64,930 while rural population is 14,33,800. Puri has a sex ratio of approximately 962 females for every 1,000 males. The district has a population density of 488.3 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 3,67,269 houses in the district, including 54,081 urban houses and 3,13,188 rural houses. When it comes to villages, there are about 1,600 villages in puri district.

The Puri district is further divided in to Tehsils / Blocks / PS / Community Development Blocks (C.D.Blocks) for administrative purposes. In India, the Block or C.D.Block is often the next level of administrative division after the tehsil. It is important to note that, In some states of India C.D.Blocks are equal to tehsils.
