Karaikal is a district in the Puducherry Union Territory of India. Total area of Karaikal is 157 km² including 118.70 km² rural area and 38.30 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Karaikal has a population of 2,00,222 peoples, out of which urban population is 98,102 while rural population is 1,02,120. The district has a population density of 1275 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 49,705 houses in the district, including 24,184 urban houses and 25,521 rural houses.
