Coimbatore

Coimbatore is a district in the Tamil Nadu State of India. Total area of Coimbatore is 4,732 km² including 3,103.88 km² rural area and 1,628.12 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Coimbatore has a population of 34,58,045 peoples, out of which urban population is 26,18,940 while rural population is 8,39,105. Coimbatore has a sex ratio of approximately 999 females for every 1,000 males. The district has a population density of 731 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 9,58,035 houses in the district, including 7,15,878 urban houses and 2,42,157 rural houses. When it comes to villages, there are about 219 villages in coimbatore district.

The Coimbatore district is further divided in to Talukas / Blocks / PS / Community Development Blocks (C.D.Blocks) for administrative purposes.
