The Nilgiris is a district in the Tamil Nadu State of India. Total area of The Nilgiris is 2,565 km² including 1,982.71 km² rural area and 582.29 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, The Nilgiris has a population of 7,35,394 peoples, out of which urban population is 4,35,655 while rural population is 2,99,739. The Nilgiris has a sex ratio of approximately 1041 females for every 1,000 males. The district has a population density of 287 inhabitants per square kilometre.
