Thiruvallur District is an administrative district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is situated about 45 km from Chennai, the state capital of Tamil Nadu. The district headquarters is located at Tiruvallur. Tamil is the main language spoken in the district. The district covers a total geographical area of 3,394 km², including 2,856.34 km² of rural area and 537.66 km² of urban area.
