Varanasi is a district in the Uttar Pradesh State of India. Total area of Varanasi is 1,535 km² including 1,371.22 km² rural area and 163.78 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Varanasi has a population of 36,76,841 peoples, out of which urban population is 15,97,051 while rural population is 20,79,790. Varanasi has a sex ratio of approximately 913 females for every 1,000 males. The district has a population density of 2395 inhabitants per square kilometre.
