Srinagar is a district in the Jammu & Kashmir State of India. Total area of Srinagar is 1,979 km² including 1,684.47 km² rural area and 294.53 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Srinagar has a population of 12,36,829 peoples, out of which urban population is 12,19,516 while rural population is 17,313. The district has a population density of 625 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 1,91,678 houses in the district, including 1,88,834 urban houses and 2,844 rural houses.
