Chikmagalur is a district in the Karnataka State of India. Total area of Chikmagalur is 7,202 km² including 7,091.47 km² rural area and 110.53 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Chikmagalur has a population of 11,37,961 peoples, out of which urban population is 2,39,508 while rural population is 8,98,453. The district has a population density of 158 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 2,76,085 houses in the district, including 57,838 urban houses and 2,18,247 rural houses.
