Karnataka
Karnataka is a state located in the southern region of India. It was established on 01-Nov-1956. The capital of the state is Bengaluru. The official language is Kannada. Major rivers of Karnataka include Kaveri, Krishna, Tungabhadra, Sharavathi, Malaprabha.
As per Census 2011, Karnataka has a total geographical area of 191,791 square kilometres, including 185,777 square kilometres of rural area and 6,014 square kilometres of urban area.
The state has a bicameral legislature with 28 Lok Sabha seats, 12 Rajya Sabha seats, 224 Vidhan Sabha seats. Judicial matters are handled by the Karnataka High Court. Karnataka shares borders with Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala, Goa.
