Puducherry
Puducherry is an Indian union territory located in the Southern region of India. It was established on 16-Aug-1962. The capital of the union territory is Pondicherry. The official languages are Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam. Additional official languages include English, French. Major rivers include Pennaiyar, Vellar.
As per Census 2011, the total area of the union territory is 490 square kilometres, including 335 square kilometres of rural area and 155 square kilometres of urban area.
The union territory has a unicameral legislature with 1 Lok Sabha seat, 1 Rajya Sabha seat, 30 Vidhan Sabha seats. Judicial matters are handled by the Madras High Court. Puducherry shares borders with Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh.
