Karaikal District, Puducherry

Karaikal District is an administrative district in the union territory of Puducherry, India. It is situated about 140 km from Puducherry, the capital of the Union Territory. The district headquarters is located at Karaikal. Tamil and French (heritage) are the main languages spoken in the district. The district covers a total geographical area of 157 km², including 118.70 km² of rural area and 38.30 km² of urban area.
