Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu is an Indian state located in the Southern region of India. It was established on 01-Nov-1956. The capital of the state is Chennai. The official language is Tamil. Additional official language includes English. Major rivers include Kaveri, Vaigai, Tamraparni, Palar, Ponnaiyar.
As per Census 2011, the total area of the state is 130,060 square kilometres, including 116,424 square kilometres of rural area and 13,636 square kilometres of urban area.
The state has a unicameral legislature with 39 Lok Sabha seats, 18 Rajya Sabha seats, 234 Vidhan Sabha seats. Judicial matters are handled by the Madras High Court. Tamil Nadu shares borders with Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry.
