Virudhunagar is an administrative district in Tamil Nadu, India. The district is located about 540 km from Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. Its administrative headquarters is in Virudhunagar. Tamil is the major language spoken in the district. The district covers a total area of 4,241 km², including 3,794.30 km² of rural area and 446.70 km² of urban area.
