Dindigul is an administrative district in Tamil Nadu, India. The district is located about 440 km from Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. Its administrative headquarters is in Dindigul. Tamil is the major language spoken in the district. The district covers a total area of 6,036 km², including 5,473.21 km² of rural area and 562.79 km² of urban area.
