Ariyalur is an administrative district in Tamil Nadu, India. The district is located about 275 km from Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. Its administrative headquarters is in Ariyalur. Tamil is the major language spoken in the district. The district covers a total area of 1,940 km², including 1,886.69 km² of rural area and 53.31 km² of urban area.
