The Nilgiris District, Tamil Nadu

The Nilgiris District is an administrative district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is situated about 550 km from Chennai, the state capital of Tamil Nadu. The district headquarters is located at Ooty. Tamil, Malayalam, Toda, Badaga and Kota are among the main languages spoken in the district. The district covers a total geographical area of 2,565 km², including 1,982.71 km² of rural area and 582.29 km² of urban area.
