Kerala

Kerala is a state located in the southern region of India. It was established on 01-Nov-1956. The capital of the state is Thiruvananthapuram. The official language is Malayalam. An additional official language is English. Major rivers of Kerala include Periyar, Bharathapuzha, Pamba, Chaliyar.

As per Census 2011, Kerala has a total geographical area of 38,852 square kilometres, including 31,253 square kilometres of rural area and 7,599 square kilometres of urban area.

The state has a unicameral legislature with 20 Lok Sabha seats, 9 Rajya Sabha seats, 140 Vidhan Sabha seats. Judicial matters are handled by the Kerala High Court. Kerala shares borders with Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry.
