Shivamogga District, Karnataka

Shivamogga District is an administrative district in the state of Karnataka, India. It is situated about 280 km from Bengaluru, the state capital of Karnataka. The district headquarters is located at Shimoga. Kannada is the main language spoken in the district. The district covers a total geographical area of 8,478 km², including 8,240.08 km² of rural area and 237.92 km² of urban area.
