Dakshina Kannada is a district in the Karnataka State of India. Total area of Dakshina Kannada is 4,861 km² including 4,309.74 km² rural area and 551.26 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Dakshina Kannada has a population of 20,89,649 peoples, out of which urban population is 9,96,086 while rural population is 10,93,563. Dakshina Kannada has a sex ratio of approximately 1019 females for every 1,000 males. The district has a population density of 430 inhabitants per square kilometre.
