Shimoga

Shimoga is a district in the Karnataka State of India. Total area of Shimoga is 8,478 km² including 8,240.08 km² rural area and 237.92 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Shimoga has a population of 17,52,753 peoples, out of which urban population is 6,23,727 while rural population is 11,29,026. Shimoga has a sex ratio of approximately 997 females for every 1,000 males. The district has a population density of 207 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 4,06,816 houses in the district, including 1,47,360 urban houses and 2,59,456 rural houses. When it comes to villages, there are about 1,444 villages in shimoga district.
