Thane District, Maharashtra

Thane District is an administrative district in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is situated about 40 km from Mumbai, the state capital of Maharashtra. The district headquarters is located at Thane. Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati and Marwadi are among the main languages spoken in the district. The district covers a total geographical area of 9,558 km², including 8,459.79 km² of rural area and 1,098.21 km² of urban area.
