Thane
Thane is a district in the Maharashtra State of India. The total area of Thane district is 9,558 km², which includes 8,459.79 km² of rural area and 1,098.21 km² of urban area. There are about 1,704 villages in Thane district.
For administrative convenience, Thane district is divided into Tehsils, Blocks, PS, and Community Development Blocks (C.D. Blocks). In many states, Blocks or C.D. Blocks are treated the same as tehsils, though they may have slightly different roles depending on the region.
