Maharashtra
Maharashtra is a state located in the western region of India. It was established on 01-May-1960. The capital of the state is Nagpur in winter and Mumbai in summer. Mumbai is the largest city. The official language is Marathi. Major rivers of Maharashtra include Godavari, Krishna, Bhima, Tapi, Wardha, Wainganga.
As per Census 2011, Maharashtra has a total geographical area of 307,713 square kilometres, including 298,619 square kilometres of rural area and 9,094 square kilometres of urban area.
The state has a bicameral legislature with 48 Lok Sabha seats, 19 Rajya Sabha seats, 288 Vidhan Sabha seats. Judicial matters are handled by the Bombay High Court. Maharashtra shares borders with Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Goa, The Dadra And Nagar Haveli And Daman And Diu.
