Rajasthan

Rajasthan is an Indian State located in the Western region of India. Rajasthan state is established on 1-Nov-1956 and the capital of Rajasthan is Jaipur. Rajasthan is a big and colorful state in India, famous for its old forts, grand palaces, and exciting festivals. It also has a huge sandy desert called the Thar Desert, making it a unique and fascinating place to explore! The major cities of Rajasthan include Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer etc., while the largest city in the state is Jaipur. When it comes to rivers, Chambal, Luni, Banas are the main rivers of Rajasthan state.

Total area of Rajasthan is 3,42,239 km² including 3,35,606.04 km² rural area and 6,632.96 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Rajasthan has a population of 6,85,48,437 peoples, out of which urban population is 1,70,48,085 while rural population is 5,15,00,352. There are about 1,27,11,146 houses in the state, including 32,16,243 urban houses and 94,94,903 rural houses.

Hindi, Rajasthani are the main languages of Rajasthan. As per ISO 3166-2:IN standard - the ISO code of Rajasthan is IN-RJ. Rajasthan state is further divided in to districts for administrative purposes. Jaisalmer is the largest district of Rajasthan covering area of 38401 km² while Dhaulpur is the smallest district of Rajasthan covering area of 3033 km². Jaipur is the most populous whereas Jaisalmer is the least populous district in Rajasthan state.
