Baran

Baran is a district in the Rajasthan State of India. Total area of Baran is 6,992 km² including 6,846.71 km² rural area and 145.29 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Baran has a population of 12,22,755 peoples, out of which urban population is 2,54,214 while rural population is 9,68,541. Baran has a sex ratio of approximately 928 females for every 1,000 males. The district has a population density of 175 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 2,41,428 houses in the district, including 49,902 urban houses and 1,91,526 rural houses. When it comes to villages, there are about 1,114 villages in baran district.

The Baran district is further divided in to Tehsils / Blocks / PS / Community Development Blocks (C.D.Blocks) for administrative purposes. In India, the Block or C.D.Block is often the next level of administrative division after the tehsil. It is important to note that, In some states of India C.D.Blocks are equal to tehsils.
