East Khasi Hills

East Khasi Hills is a district in the Meghalaya State of India. Total area of East Khasi Hills is 2,748 km² including 2,679.38 km² rural area and 68.62 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, East Khasi Hills has a population of 8,25,922 peoples, out of which urban population is 3,66,481 while rural population is 4,59,441. East Khasi Hills has a sex ratio of approximately 1010 females for every 1,000 males. The district has a population density of 300.6 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 1,64,046 houses in the district, including 77,061 urban houses and 86,985 rural houses. When it comes to villages, there are about 923 villages in east khasi hills district.

The East Khasi Hills district is further divided in to Subdivisions / Blocks / PS / Community Development Blocks (C.D.Blocks) for administrative purposes. In India, the Block or C.D.Block is often the next level of administrative division after the tehsil. It is important to note that, In some states of India C.D.Blocks are equal to tehsils.
