South District

South District is a district in the Sikkim State of India. Total area of South District is 750 km² including 742.40 km² rural area and 7.60 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, South District has a population of 1,46,850 peoples, out of which urban population is 21,199 while rural population is 1,25,651. South District has a sex ratio of approximately 915 females for every 1,000 males. The district has a population density of 196 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 30,543 houses in the district, including 4,840 urban houses and 25,703 rural houses. When it comes to villages, there are about 140 villages in south district district.

The South District district is further divided in to Subdivisions / Blocks / PS / Community Development Blocks (C.D.Blocks) for administrative purposes.
