Adilabad is a district in the Telangana State of India. Total area of Adilabad is 16,105 km² including 15,751.30 km² rural area and 353.70 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Adilabad has a population of 27,41,239 peoples, out of which urban population is 7,60,259 while rural population is 19,80,980. The district has a population density of 170.2 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 6,49,849 houses in the district, including 1,76,839 urban houses and 4,73,010 rural houses. When it comes to villages, there are about 1,590 villages in adilabad district.
The Adilabad district is further divided in to Mandals / Blocks / PS / Community Development Blocks (C.D.Blocks) for administrative purposes. In India, the Block or C.D.Block is often the next level of administrative division after the tehsil. It is important to note that, In some states of India C.D.Blocks are equal to tehsils.
For those who don't know, the C.D.Block is a rural area earmarked for administration and development in India. The area is administered by a BDO (Block Development Officer). A C.D.Block covers several gram panchayats, local administrative unit at the village level.
Kaddam (Peddur) is the largest mandal in adilabad district covering area of 654.76 km² while Laxmanchanda is the smallest mandal in adilabad district covering area of 118.56 km².
