Khammam
Khammam is a district in the Telangana State of India. Total area of Khammam is 16,029 km² including 15,817.64 km² rural area and 211.36 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Khammam has a population of 27,97,370 peoples, out of which urban population is 6,55,911 while rural population is 21,41,459. Khammam has a sex ratio of approximately 1011 females for every 1,000 males. The district has a population density of 174.5 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 7,54,034 houses in the district, including 1,71,064 urban houses and 5,82,970 rural houses. When it comes to villages, there are about 1,103 villages in khammam district.
The Khammam district is further divided in to Mandals / Blocks / PS / Community Development Blocks (C.D.Blocks) for administrative purposes. In India, the Block or C.D.Block is often the next level of administrative division after the tehsil. It is important to note that, In some states of India C.D.Blocks are equal to tehsils.
For those who don't know, the C.D.Block is a rural area earmarked for administration and development in India. The area is administered by a BDO (Block Development Officer). A C.D.Block covers several gram panchayats, local administrative unit at the village level.
Chintur is the largest mandal in khammam district covering area of 1031.42 km² while Wyra is the smallest mandal in khammam district covering area of 146.86 km².
