Medak is a district in the Telangana State of India. Total area of Medak is 9,699 km² including 9,327.66 km² rural area and 371.34 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Medak has a population of 30,33,288 peoples, out of which urban population is 7,27,871 while rural population is 23,05,417. The district has a population density of 312.7 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 6,68,626 houses in the district, including 1,64,059 urban houses and 5,04,567 rural houses. When it comes to villages, there are about 1,201 villages in medak district.
The Medak district is further divided in to Mandals / Blocks / PS / Community Development Blocks (C.D.Blocks) for administrative purposes. In India, the Block or C.D.Block is often the next level of administrative division after the tehsil. It is important to note that, In some states of India C.D.Blocks are equal to tehsils.
For those who don't know, the C.D.Block is a rural area earmarked for administration and development in India. The area is administered by a BDO (Block Development Officer). A C.D.Block covers several gram panchayats, local administrative unit at the village level.
Zahirabad is the largest mandal in medak district covering area of 422.42 km² while Ramachandrapuram is the smallest mandal in medak district covering area of 91.52 km². Siddipet is the most populous whereas Thoguta is the least populous mandal in medak district. There are 45 mandals in Medak district.
