Paschim Medinipur is a district in the West Bengal State of India. Total area of Paschim Medinipur is 9,368 km² including 9,114.68 km² rural area and 253.32 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Paschim Medinipur has a population of 59,13,457 peoples, out of which urban population is 7,22,686 while rural population is 51,90,771. Paschim Medinipur has a sex ratio of approximately 965 females for every 1,000 males. The district has a population density of 631.2 inhabitants per square kilometre.
