Cachar

Cachar is a district in the Assam State of India. Total area of Cachar is 3,786 km² including 3,721.41 km² rural area and 64.59 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Cachar has a population of 17,36,617 peoples, out of which urban population is 3,15,464 while rural population is 14,21,153. Cachar has a sex ratio of approximately 959 females for every 1,000 males. The district has a population density of 458.7 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 3,79,955 houses in the district, including 69,205 urban houses and 3,10,750 rural houses. When it comes to villages, there are about 998 villages in cachar district.

The Cachar district is further divided in to Subdivisions / Blocks / PS / Community Development Blocks (C.D.Blocks) for administrative purposes. In India, the Block or C.D.Block is often the next level of administrative division after the tehsil. It is important to note that, In some states of India C.D.Blocks are equal to tehsils.
