North 24 Parganas District is an administrative district in the state of West Bengal, India. It is situated about 30 km from Kolkata, the state capital of West Bengal. The district headquarters is located at Barasat. Bengali is the main language spoken in the district. The district covers a total geographical area of 4,094 km², including 3,468.22 km² of rural area and 625.78 km² of urban area.
