North 24 Parganas is an administrative district in West Bengal, India. The district is located about 30 km from Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. Its administrative headquarters is in Barasat. Bengali is the major language spoken in the district. The district covers a total area of 4,094 km², including 3,468.22 km² of rural area and 625.78 km² of urban area.
