Dakshin Dinajpur is an administrative district in West Bengal, India. The district is located about 430 km from Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. Its administrative headquarters is in Balurghat. Bengali is the major language spoken in the district. The district covers a total area of 2,219 km², including 2,187.08 km² of rural area and 31.92 km² of urban area.
