Erode is a district in the Tamil Nadu State of India. Total area of Erode is 5,760 km² including 4,991.71 km² rural area and 768.29 km² urban area. As per 2011 stats, Erode has a population of 22,51,744 peoples, out of which urban population is 11,57,976 while rural population is 10,93,768. Erode has a sex ratio of approximately 992 females for every 1,000 males. The district has a population density of 391 inhabitants per square kilometre. There are about 6,58,071 houses in the district, including 3,34,569 urban houses and 3,23,502 rural houses. When it comes to villages, there are about 287 villages in erode district.

The Erode district is further divided in to Talukas / Blocks / PS / Community Development Blocks (C.D.Blocks) for administrative purposes.
