Howrah District, West Bengal

Howrah is an administrative district in West Bengal, India. The district is located about 10 km from Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. Its administrative headquarters is in Howrah. Bengali is the major language spoken in the district. The district covers a total area of 1,467 km², including 1,035.43 km² of rural area and 431.57 km² of urban area.
