Paschim Medinipur District, West Bengal

Paschim Medinipur is an administrative district in West Bengal, India. The district is located about 140 km from Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. Its administrative headquarters is in Midnapore. Bengali and Santhali are the major languages spoken in the district. The district covers a total area of 9,368 km², including 9,114.68 km² of rural area and 253.32 km² of urban area.
