Paschim Medinipur District, West Bengal

Paschim Medinipur District is an administrative district in the state of West Bengal, India. It is situated about 140 km from Kolkata, the state capital of West Bengal. The district headquarters is located at Midnapore. Bengali and Santhali are the main languages spoken in the district. The district covers a total geographical area of 9,368 km², including 9,114.68 km² of rural area and 253.32 km² of urban area.
