Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh is a state located in the northern region of India. It was established on 25-Jan-1971. The capital of the state is Dharamshala in winter and Shimla in summer. Shimla is the largest city. The official language is Hindi. An additional official language is Sanskrit. Major rivers of Himachal Pradesh include Beas, Sutlej, Ravi, Chenab, Yamuna.

As per Census 2011, Himachal Pradesh has a total geographical area of 55,673 square kilometres, including 55,402 square kilometres of rural area and 271 square kilometres of urban area.

The state has a unicameral legislature with 4 Lok Sabha seats, 3 Rajya Sabha seats, 68 Vidhan Sabha seats. Judicial matters are handled by the Himachal Pradesh High Court. Himachal Pradesh shares borders with Jammu And Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and has an international border with China.
