Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh is an Indian State located in the Northern region of India. Uttar Pradesh state is established on 26-Jan-1950 and the capital of Uttar Pradesh is Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh is a big state in India, often called UP for short. It's famous for the Taj Mahal, a beautiful white marble monument, and has many historical places and diverse cultures to explore. It's the home of the Ganges River, one of the holiest rivers in the country. The major cities of Uttar Pradesh include Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Agra, Allahabad etc., while the largest city in the state is Kanpur. When it comes to rivers, Ganges, Yamuna are the main rivers of Uttar Pradesh state.

As per the 2011 Census, the total area of Uttar Pradesh is 2,40,928 km², including 2,33,365.71 km² of rural area and 7,562.29 km² of urban area. Hindi, Urdu are the main languages spoken in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh has a sex ratio of approximately 912 females for every 1,000 males. As per the ISO 3166-2:IN standard, the ISO code of Uttar Pradesh is IN-UP.
